Philip Karto Speedy Editions Compared: PK.01 to PK.05
Choose PK.01 for spontaneous brushwork and painterly variation. Choose PK.02 for geometry, repetition, and controlled composition. Choose PK.03 when figures, language, and cultural narrative matter most. Choose PK.04 for tactile embroidery combined with a hand-painted reverse. Choose PK.05 for the strongest physical intervention, created through hand-cut python leather appliqués.
The edition numbers are not a ranking from basic to superior. Each identifies a different artistic system on the same iconic silhouette. This guide compares them on the Speedy specifically. For the deeper technique explanation across every silhouette, see Painted vs Embroidered vs Python Louis Vuitton Art Bags.
Philip Karto is an independent Atelier turning authenticated vintage Louis Vuitton into a catalogued system of numbered art editions, recognized in Forbes, Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, L'Officiel, and Cosmopolitan.

Each Philip Karto Speedy begins with an authenticated vintage foundation that is independently transformed and documented under the Philip Karto name. Because the foundations are vintage and the processes are hand-executed, pieces differ naturally, even within the same numbered edition.
The five Speedy editions in brief

Image: PK.01, The Spontaneous Edition
PK.01, The Spontaneous Edition. Freehand painting, splashes, drips, and layered pigment, with visible brush movement. Represented by the ART IS FREEDOM | Speedy - PK.01 Edition, currently the single PK.01 Speedy design.

Image: PK.02, The Composed Edition
PK.02, The Composed Edition. Lines, grids, enlarged symbols, and deliberate color turn the monogram into a system, from restrained black and grey to full color. See all five PK.02 Speedy works.

Image: EINSTEIN | Speedy - PK.03 Edition.
PK.03, The Pop Art Edition. Figures, words, and cultural references make the bag communicate immediately, as in the EINSTEIN | Speedy - PK.03 Edition.

Image: PK.04, The Embroidered Edition
PK.04, The Embroidered Edition. A dual-technique edition, hand-painted on one side and embroidered on the other, with thread-built relief. See all four PK.04 Speedy works.

Image: PK.05, The Python Edition
PK.05, The Python Edition. Hand-cut python leather is applied and stitched onto the canvas, so the surface is physically reconstructed rather than painted, as in the STARS | Speedy - PK.05 Edition, from $4,200.
Python and other exotic skins are sensitive to humidity, water, and heat, and international movement can require CITES documentation depending on the species, product, origin, and destination. Confirm current requirements with the Atelier before shipping or travelling internationally.

Begin with artistic language rather than price alone. PK.05 has a higher starting price, but that does not make it universally more desirable. It represents a more material-led system, while the other editions offer different forms of gesture, composition, narrative, and craft.
Choosing your Speedy
• Do I prefer spontaneous expression or controlled composition?
• Am I more drawn to abstraction, geometry, figures, text, thread, or applied leather?
• Should the artwork communicate clearly from a distance, or reveal itself close up?
• Which colors are currently offered in the edition I prefer?
• Am I evaluating the exact available work, or another hand-executed variation?
• Will a python piece travel internationally or enter a jurisdiction with permit requirements?
For measurements and size selection, use the Speedy and Keepall Size Guide rather than treating size and artistic edition as the same decision. For wider questions about transformed vintage pieces, see the Upcycled Louis Vuitton Buyer's Guide.
Brief care differences
Protect painted areas from friction and abrasive surfaces, handle embroidered motifs carefully to reduce snagging, and protect python from water, humidity, and direct heat. Across all editions, avoid oils, perfumes, cosmetics, solvents, chemical cleaners, and excessive sunlight. Follow the Philip Karto Care and Maintenance Guide rather than generic instructions.
Request current Speedy availability
PK.01 expresses gesture. PK.02 creates graphic order. PK.03 introduces figures and narrative. PK.04 combines hand painting with tactile embroidery. PK.05 reconstructs the surface through python appliqué. The right edition is the one whose artistic language and physical presence match how you want to collect and carry the Speedy.
Prices, sizes, colors, and availability can change. Before selecting, request current photographs and confirm whether the listing represents the exact available work or another individually executed variation.
Philip Karto is an independent Atelier and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Louis Vuitton or Hermès. Every work begins with an authenticated vintage foundation that is independently transformed and documented under the Philip Karto name.
