Frequently Asked Questions
ORDERS & SHIPPING
Pieces from the permanent collections and capsules are often ready to ship. Standard delivery takes 5 to 12 business days from shipment, with a tracking number sent by email.
Commissions follow their own timeline (see Commissions).
Yes. The Atelier ships worldwide. Shipping is complimentary on all bags. Caps and smaller accessories ship at a calculated carrier rate, shown at checkout.
For orders shipped outside the United States, all duties and import taxes are calculated and paid at checkout. The total you confirm is the final price, with nothing further to pay on delivery. Your piece ships via DHL Express with duties prepaid, so it clears customs and arrives without additional charges or delays.
A tracking number is provided by email once your piece has shipped. If your order has not arrived within two weeks, contact the atelier directly.
Every piece is created and dispatched from the Philip Karto Atelier in Miami.
The Atelier receives clients in Miami by private appointment.
Contact us by WhatsApp or through the contact page to arrange a visit.
Each piece is delivered in the Atelier's signature box. The bag rests in its own compartment, with its dust bag. Beside it: the preserved original components of the vintage bag in their own dust bags, the PK certificate of authenticity stating the edition number, and a polaroid of the original vintage piece before its transformation.
It is then packed for secure transit and dispatched with tracking.

Unused pieces in original packaging may be returned within 7 days of delivery for US orders or 14 days for international orders for a full refund. Proof of purchase is required. Return shipping is the responsibility of the client.

Yes. Flexible payment options, including monthly installments, are available at checkout for eligible orders. Eligibility and terms are shown before you confirm.
AUTHENTICITY & CARE
Yes. Every piece begins as an authentic vintage Louis Vuitton or Hermès bag, sourced through trusted secondary-market specialists and professionally authenticated before any work begins.
During reconstruction, the original materials are cleaned, restored, and structurally repaired, then transformed by hand in the Miami Atelier. Each piece is delivered with a certificate of authenticity and a unique numbered plate, registered in the Philip Karto registry as your proof of authenticity and traceability.
No. Philip Karto is an independent artist and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Louis Vuitton or Hermès. The Atelier acquires authentic vintage pieces on the legal secondary market and transforms them into new artistic works under Philip Karto's own signature.
Every original part removed during the transformation is preserved and delivered with your piece. Nothing is discarded. The elements not reused return to you, as evidence of the authentic foundation your creation is built on.
Yes. The artwork is applied with professional-grade materials developed for leather and sealed for wear. A Philip Karto piece is made to be carried, not stored.
It is wearable art, and it asks to be treated as art. Like a fine watch or a piece of jewelry, it is built for life, not for hardship: keep it from heavy friction and overfilling, and it will age the way good vintage does, gaining character rather than losing it.
The five-year Atelier guarantee covers the artistic intervention.
For specific situations, the Care & Maintenance page and the Atelier are always available.
The guarantee covers the Atelier's artistic intervention and reconstruction, the hand-painting, embroidery, reconstruction, and PK hardware, for five years from delivery. It does not cover the natural aging of the vintage foundation, or wear and misuse.
If your piece shows an issue related to the Atelier's work, contact us with photographs and we will resolve it directly.
Each piece carries a unique numbered plate and is recorded in the Philip Karto registry. That number identifies your piece as an original Philip Karto creation and is your record of authenticity and traceability.
Each design exists as a numbered edition. Your piece's number is stated on its certificate of authenticity and identifies its place within the edition. Numbers are assigned in order of completion and are never repeated.
Each creation is a hand-executed artwork on vintage leather and canvas. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, moisture, and heat. Store it in the dust bag provided.
For specific care questions, contact the Atelier.
COMMISSIONS
Yes. The Atelier creates singular works outside the permanent edition system. Visit the Commission page or contact the Atelier to begin.
Contact the Atelier through the Commission page or by email. We will discuss your vision, the heritage piece, and the direction before any work begins.
Yes. If you already own an authenticated vintage piece, the Atelier can work with it directly. Its condition and suitability are assessed during the consultation.
Each commission is priced individually based on the heritage piece, artistic direction, and complexity of the intervention. Contact the atelier to discuss.
Timelines vary with sourcing, artistic scope, and Atelier capacity. Typical commissions are completed within 4 to 8 weeks from confirmed direction.
AVAILABILITY & EDITIONS
Every Philip Karto piece exists as a numbered edition or a singular commission.
The permanent collections evolve season after season: designs may leave the catalog as new ones enter. A design no longer listed is no longer available for sale, though it may occasionally be revived as a one-of-one commission, at the Atelier's discretion.
Capsule editions are absolute. When a capsule closes, its designs are never executed again, not even as a commission.
New numbered pieces go to The Atelier Insider's members before they reach the public, a list not for everyone.
Request access to see new pieces first, with priority on drops and invitations to private events.
Availability is handled individually, so contact the Atelier to discuss a specific piece.
For upcoming works, request access to The Atelier Insider for early release and priority on drops, before pieces go public.
The collections are the Atelier's permanent line, evolving over time.
A capsule is a finite artistic statement, a single theme explored as a closed series, created by the Atelier or in collaboration with an invited artist. Once a capsule closes, it is never revisited. These are the Atelier's most singular works.
GIFTING
Every piece already arrives gift-ready, presented in the Atelier's signature box and protected in its dust bag. No additional wrapping is needed.
To send a piece directly as a gift, contact the Atelier and we will arrange delivery.
Yes. Let the Atelier know by email after your order, and Philip will include a handwritten note with the piece.
