CARE & MAINTENANCE
Each Philip Karto piece carries a history, reinterpreted through a meticulous artisanal process. Preserving its character and integrity over time requires thoughtful care.
General Care
Our pieces are crafted from vintage materials that have been carefully restored while
maintaining their original structure. As such, they should be handled with attention.
- Avoid overexposure to direct sunlight, humidity, or extreme temperatures
- Keep away from water, oils, perfumes, and cosmetics
- Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces that may alter the finish or painted elements
- When not in use, we recommend storing your piece in a dry, temperate environment.
Handling & Use
Each creation is unique and may feature hand-painted or reconstructed elements.
- Handle with clean hands to preserve the surface
- Avoid excessive friction on painted or treated areas
- Do not overload the bag, as this may affect its original structure
These precautions help maintain both the aesthetic and structural integrity of the piece.

Storage
To preserve the shape and materials over time:
- Store in its protective dust bag when not in use
- Keep in a well-ventilated space, away from direct light
- If needed, gently fill the interior with tissue paper to maintain its form
- Avoid plastic storage, which can trap humidity and affect the materials.
Cleaning
We recommend avoiding direct cleaning whenever possible.
- Do not machine wash or fully submerge the piece
- For light surface dust, use a soft, dry cloth
- Do not use chemical cleaners, alcohol-based products, or solvents
Due to the nature of vintage materials and hand-applied finishes, improper cleaning may
cause irreversible damage.
Natural Evolution
Each piece is designed to evolve over time. Subtle marks, softening of materials, and the natural aging of painted elements are part of the object’s life and contribute to its singularity. This evolution should be embraced as part of the piece’s story.

Philip Karto pieces are not only objects, they are also living materials, shaped by time, use, and
intention. Proper care ensures they continue to evolve with elegance.
