Philip Karto

Born Philippe Carteau in France. Raised in the Mediterranean. Rooted in craft. Drawn to provocation.

Philip Karto grew up in the south of France. Sunlight. Craftsmanship. Creative independence. From an early age, he was drawn to American pop culture, to provocation, to the tension betweeen heritage and disruption. These were not references. They were foundations.

In 2013, he relocated to Miami. In 2017, he founded the atelier. The practice was clear from the beginning: source authenticated vintage luxury bags from Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Dismantle them by hand. Rebuild them with discipline. Sign them through artistic intervention — painting, embroidery, couture-level stitching, metal components conceived within the studio.

Through this practice, Karto transforms heritage luxury objects into singular collectible pieces that bridge traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic authorship.

Nothing is replicated. Every execution is singular.
This is not customization. This is authorship.

Artistic Provocation. Silence is Required.

Before the atelier, Karto created the rock-inspired jewelry label CAPTION and collaborated with several fashion houses. The creative direction sharpened. The entrepreneurial instinct deepened.

But the vision was always the same: objects that carry weight. Objects that do not explain themselves.

His work attracted international attention without invitation. Pieces from the atelier have been carried by Miley Cyrus, Bella Hadid, and Mike Tyson. No campaigns, No endorsements. The work entered culture because it belonged there.

Luxury Objects Should Not Disappear with Time. They Should Evolve.

The atelier does not follow trends. It establishes its own artistic language and its own tempo. There is no seasonal calendar. There is no collection cycle. There is only the work.

Rooted in European craftsmanship traditions. Operating from Miami. Reflecting an international perspective on luxury, one that values authenticity, patience, and permanence.

Every piece begins as a Louis Vuitton or Hermès icon. It leaves the atelier as a Philip Karto — unrepeatable, irreversible, authored.

"Luxury was never meant to be fast. It was meant to last. The atelier exists to prove that."
