An authenticated vintage Hermès Birkin, numbered and hand-finished in the Atelier.

Color applied by hand in a single, unrepeated pass across the original surface. A numbered edition, individually executed, so no two pieces carry the same marks.

A gesture, against authority.

The Birkin was conceived as a structure, a form defined by frame, proportion, and vertical balance. In the ART IS FREEDOM Edition, Philip Karto sets the gesture against that order: the paint does not dissolve into the surface, it presses against it. The Birkin holds its authority, the statement contained, tension visible, structure intact.

Color arrives as movement. On an authentic vintage bag, paint is splashed and dripped across the surface, fast and unrepeated, while the original design holds its ground beneath. This is the most instinctive tier in the Philip Karto system, the moment before a mark becomes a plan. A gesture cannot be made the same way twice, and each piece is hand-executed in a single pass in the Atelier. What you carry is instinct, kept exactly as it fell.

Hermès Turn-Lock Closure & Hardware
Solid brass base plated with precious metals (Hardware finish varies depending on the vintage piece received):

Gold Hardware (GHW): 18-karat gold plating, warm and enduring (sometimes 24-karat gold plating on certain vintage pieces)
Palladium Hardware (PHW): Palladium-plated, from the platinum group, whiter and brighter than silver
Locks, keys, front plates, and feet all match in finish

Returns:
Pieces may be returned within 7 days of delivery for US orders, and 14 days for international orders. Items must be returned unused, in their original condition and packaging. Contact the Atelier to start your return, and we'll guide you through the process quickly and hassle-free.

Shipping:
We ship worldwide with DHL Express. Shipping is complimentary on all bags, with tracking provided so you can follow your piece to your door. Delivery times vary by destination.

International orders:
All duties and import taxes are calculated and prepaid at checkout, and your piece ships Delivered Duty Paid via DHL Express. Nothing further to pay on delivery.
