Philip Karto, real name Philippe Carteau, born the 12th of February 1973, in Toulon, France, is a French businessman and designer based in Miami USA.

Biography

French businessman and designer

Born in Toulon, in south of France, he grew up in Bandol where he was destined for a career in judoka before an injury stopped him. Philippe Carteau is the son of a school teacher and a doctor who dedicates his career to research on Alzheimer's disease. He also has a brother, Eric Carteau. To 21 years old, he created his first restaurant LE CABANON in Sanary-sur-Mer. From the age of 23, he became artistic director of the nightclub L'AVENTURE, in Toulon, before opening several other establishments - clubs, bars, restaurants - in France. These trendy establishments welcome many French and foreign personalities. Between 2000 and 2002, he’s associated with Jean Roch and Dominique Pedri in the restaurant LA MADRAGUE (Saint-Tropez).

In May 2005, the French courts sentenced him to six months in prison and fined 20,000 euros for willful violence in a meeting - a brawl that took place in Cannes, in front to famous club Les Coulisses. On appeal in January 2006, he was dismissed.

In 2004, Philippe Carteau created the jewelry brand CAPTION, a huge success all around Europe. Caption was sold in 2006. This success has opened the doors to many business collaborations, in particular with Faith Connexion and Christian Audigier Jewelry. Following, the business owner opened several restaurants in Cannes. Innovative concepts such as SUSHIKAN, LE CAFE FLORIAN - first 100% ORGANIC restaurant in Cannes area - LA ROTISSERIE and LE MACCHERONI.
In 2013, he left France for definitively moving to Miami, Florida.

Upon arrival in United States, he learn English and start the luxury leather goods customization in 2017. He focuses his creations on the LOUIS VUITTON handbags. Designer of chic and rock leather goods, PHILIP KARTO transforms the fashion and hijacks the codes of pop culture to create a contrast between luxury and urban art. The brand meets international success, is distributed in many sales outlet around the world.

At the end of 2020, PHILIP KARTO signs an exclusive and worldwide collaboration with the famous car manufacturer LAMBORGHINI.

In 2020, he also launches a ready-to-wear line called "Prohibition", inspired by the urban DNA that characterizes him.

Personal life

Philippe Carteau has three children. A girl (Romy) born in 2011, a boy (Andréa) born in 2008, both from previous relationships. Since 2011, he lives with Clara Ghezala. They were married in January 2019, in Cannes, France. Together they have a son named Charly, born on June 19, 2019.
